TORONTO, CANADA – August 1, 2018 – Baylin Technologies Inc. (TSX: BYL) (the “Company” or “Baylin”), a leading, diversified, global wireless technology management company focused on research, design, development, manufacturing and sales of passive and active radio frequency products and services, today announced its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2018. All amounts are stated in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.

QUARTERLY HIGHLIGHTS

Key highlights for the three months ended June 30, 2018 include the following:

  • Revenue grew to $32.6 million in the second quarter of 2018, an increase of $12.2 million or 60.1% over the second quarter of 2017.
  • Gross profit was $13.0 million in the second quarter of 2018, an increase of $6.2 million over the second quarter of 2017. Gross margin was 40.1% in the second quarter of 2018, an improvement of seven percentage points compared to the prior year period.
  • Adjusted EBITDA(1) was $2.9 million in the second quarter of 2018 compared to $0.4 million in the second quarter of 2017. Adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2018 excludes certain non- recurring and one-time expenses of $0.4 million which were primarily expenses related to the acquisition of Advantech Wireless.
  • Cash on hand at June 30, 2018 was $6.2 million, a reduction of $29 million from December 31, 2017. The decrease was primarily due to cash utilized for payment of a portion of the purchase price for Advantech Wireless and an increase in non-cash working capital.
  • Manufacturing of initial production units of small cell antennas commenced at the Company’s contract manufacturing facility in Guadalajara, Mexico in the second quarter of 2018.

(1) Adjusted EBITDA refers to operating income (loss) plus depreciation and amortization plus non-recurring items.

“We are very pleased with the Company’s organic revenue growth and higher gross margins in the second quarter of 2018,” stated Randy Dewey, Baylin’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The senior management additions to our Wireless Infrastructure Group in 2017 have contributed significantly to the Company’s financial results in 2018 and we expect the momentum to continue into the second half of 2018.”

“Subsequent to the end of the quarter, we completed the acquisition of Alga Microwave Inc. We are excited to have completed this strategic acquisition following the acquisition of Advantech Wireless in January 2018,” added Mr. Dewey.

OUTLOOK
